The Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina shape my world and dominate the landscape where I live. These painted landscape quilts are inspired by the diversity of plants and trees, patterns of light and seasonal cycles in these mountains.

Occasionally I leave my mountain retreat for sky and ocean. "Swimming with Fish" and "Tropical Escape/Winter" were inspired by the kaleidoscope of color I experienced while learning to snorkle in the Carribean.

My "visual vocabulary" combines a stitcher's skill with paint on canvas. Layered collage and embroidered embellishments build surface texture. Light-reflective metallic fabrics and thread add another dimension. My goal is to create beautiful works of textile art that have the longevity and low-maintenance qualities of an acrylic painting.
